Jamaican Style Fried Dumplings

- Flour
- Baking powder
- Butter
- Sugar
- Salt
- Oil
Method
- Sieve 2 cups of plain four in a bowl
- Use a spoon and your hands to mix the following into the flour:
- 1 tbsp. of baking powder
- 1 tsp. of salt
- 1 tbsp. of sugar
- 2.5 tbsps of butter
- Add in 1 cup of water and use your hands to knead the dough
- Allow to sit to the side for ca. 10 minutes
- Start to form your different dumplings – start by rolling a round, small ball, flattening slightly and pressing a small dip into the middle. This dough should allow you to produce ca. 7-8 dumplings
- Putting some flour on your hands will make it easier to kneed the dough
- In a pan, add about ½ cup of oil
- Shallow fry your dumplings on a medium to hot heat, for ca. 3-4 minutes on both sides
- Eat with ackee and salt fish, callaloo, or eat on their own
